What influences you to buy a new product? Is it a TV advert, a magazine review? Maybe it’s a blog post or your favourite youtuber has included it in their monthly favourites. Though my friends would still recommend the odd piece of make-up, TV show or restaurant to me most of the time I will now scour the web or YouTube for others opinions. It’s amazing how much influence someone can have simply by talking about and showing a product.
I tend to be a creature of habit, if I like something I will just buy it over and over again instead of branching out and trying something new, which isn’t a bad thing by any means but it does mean that I am scared of experimenting and it has really deterred me from improving my make-up and skincare routine.
I would say one of my biggest influences for buying a product now would be YouTube Monthly Favourite videos. Zoella’s in particular I find myself picking up the odd piece or two based on the fact that I feel that I can trust her opinion and she will usually incorporate it into her make-up routines or daily vlogs to allow you to see what it looks like and how it works on her skin.
This is how I came across the Clarins Lip Oil and lucky enough just before I went on holiday.
I’m not a big lipstick or lip-gloss wearer. The sticky mess of some lip-glosses have put me off and if I do choose to wear lipstick then it is usually the liquid to matte so that I never have to worry about it smudging or a large lipstick print staring back at me from the edge of a glass.
My main worry was that my lips would chap or I wouldn’t be able to keep them as hydrated. With temperatures reaching 36 degrees I knew my lips would need some protection. However, the product would have to be easily manageable, with sweat, constant water breaks and the beating sun all being very real options.
Clarins lip Oil did just this as well as smelling and tasting absolutely delicious!
This Instant Light Comfort lip oil contains 3 key plant extracts, and most importantly is a non-sticky oil! It has a melting, lip-plumping formula that constantly left my lips feeling nourished and comfortable as well as refreshed in the constant battle against the heat walking around the them parts. I was able to pick up the Candy flavour though there is a great variety available to purchase all which smell amazing.
This would be one of my higher end purchases at £19 for 7ml but I am definitely getting a lot of use out of it compared to the copious amounts of lip-glosses I have sitting in my drawer that are gathering dust simply because they are a bit too sticky.
The packaging is simply but effective and it is a great handbag and pocket size if you were out and about. The large sponge like applicator is easy to use yet precise enough to fit the curves and shape of all lip sizes and shapes.
I picked mine up from Medicare at the Clarins counter where they were holding a fabulous offer which allowed me to grab 3 more products from a selected range for free! This also included a brilliant summer tote bag which I will show off in another post.
For someone who is more so a drugstore make up and skin care kinda girl, this Lip Oil definitely has me turning the corner and I will definitely be re-purchasing this once mine has ran out!
Do you remember your first High End Beauty purchase? Also let me know if you have tried the Clarins Lip Oil and what Flavour? I would love to hear what you think about it!
